DDos attack on Zamzar

Hi,

Unfortunately Zamzar’s service is being interrupted by what appears to be a malicious Distributed Denial of Service attack.

We’re working flat out to try and bring the service back online for you guys asap.

UPDATE: This issue was resolved on 21st April 2008. Things should be back to normal now.

We’ll include updates to the problems below:

[22:53 GMT] – The attack looks like it is now subsiding and we have taken measures to increase capacity on our load balancer to prevent this from happening again. Once again sorry for any problems, but with attacks like this they are difficult to combat. If you have any further problems please let us know in the comments.

[19:46 GMT] – We are working with our hosting proider to get the capacity for our main load balancer upgraded to try and solve these issues.

[16:36 GMT] – The problem is that the main load balancer for Zamzar is being flooded with malicious requests which are drowning out the normal traffic to the site. You will see a message like “This server is temporarily unable to service requests. (Internal-Reason: 132)” indicating this. We are working with our hosting provider to try and block the malicious traffic and only allow normal traffic through.

Thanks for your patience,
The Zamzar Team.
