You can now convert PSD files to JPG using Zamzar, online and for free !
The PSD format, a “Photoshop Document” was a new image format developed by Adobe in 1990 for the release of Photoshop 1.0, a newly released piece of professional image editing software for the Macintosh. The PSD format allows for the efficient storage of all of the various imaging options within Photoshop, including image layers (with masks), alpha channels, transparency, text and more.
The good news it that you no longer need to install Photoshop if you want to open and view a PSD file – You can use Zamzar to convert your file to any of these more convenient formats online:
- bmp – Windows Bitmap
- gif – Compuserve graphics interchange
- ico – Windows Icon
- jpg – JPEG compliant image
- pcx – Paintbrush Bitmap Image
- pdf – Portable Document Format
- png – Portable Network Graphic
- ps – Postscript document
- tga – Truevision Targa Graphic
- tiff – Tagged image file format
- wbmp – Wireless Bitmap File Format
- webp – Lossily compressed image file
Hopefully it means that you can avoid Photoshop disasters like this three-armed volleyball player 🙂

This website is fantastic, quick and easy, and no problems at all. I had a problem with the previous program that I downloaded to convert files, but Zamzar was much more efficient. Thank you!
