How do I use the Zamzar desktop file converter app?
First, you need to download the conversion app and install it on your computer:
- Go to our desktop app page, and download the version of the app you need (there are versions for Windows and Mac).
- Once the download is complete, click on the downloaded file and follow the steps in the installation window to install the app.
- The app will then open automatically, and you’ll see the app icon in your system tray (for Windows) or your top menu bar (for Mac).
With the app installed and open, you can then start converting files:
- Locate the file you want to convert.
- Right-click on the file.
- Hover over ‘Convert to…’ to see the drop-down menu of formats you can change your file to.
- Click on the format you want to convert to.
In the same folder, you’ll see a new file appear, with the filename ending in .converting. This means the file is currently being converted. Once the conversion is complete, the new file will have a filename ending in the new format extension (e.g. ‘.pdf’ or ‘.jpg’). It’ll then be ready for you to use.
