On 29th September 2025 at 14:00 UTC, we’ll be making a small update to the Zamzar File Conversion API. When importing files via HTTPS URLs, the API will begin including a new HTTP User-Agent header with each request:
User-Agent: zamzar-api/1.0 (+https://developers.zamzar.com)
Why are we making this change?
This update helps improve transparency, security, and monitoring. By clearly identifying API traffic from Zamzar, it’s easier for you to:
- Track and debug incoming requests
- Apply more accurate server rules
- Gain confidence that traffic is coming from a trusted source.
What does this mean for you?
If your servers already accept requests without filtering User-Agent headers, no action is needed.
If you do whitelist User-Agent strings, please add the one above to your configuration to avoid blocked requests.
For more information on this change please visit our status page. To learn more about User-Agent headers, see this guide from MDN.
Note: This update will not affect direct file uploads or imports from S3 — only HTTPS-based imports.
Happy Importing!
The Zamzar Team.
