Video conversions have been extremely popular since the launch of Zamzar, and today we’re pleased to announce the launch of support for another widely used and much requested format – Windows Media Videos. Zamzar now supports conversion of WMV to the following 13 formats:
- 3gp – 3GPP Multimedia File
- aac – Advanced Audio Coding File
- ac3 – AC3 Audio File
- au – AU Audio File
- avi – Windows video file
- flv – Flash Video
- gif – Graphic Interchange Format
- mov – Apple QuickTime Movie
- mp3 – Compressed audio file
- mp4 – MPEG-4 Video File
- mpg – Moving Picture Experts Group File
- ogg – Ogg Vorbis Compressed Audio File
- wav – Windows audio file

Zamzar and “the Digg effect”

Phew ! Digg has a lot to answer for – it’s been keeping the hamsters that run our servers earning their feed keeping up with the traffic that’s been coming in. It’s always an honour to get a mention on Digg, but something of a challenge as well 
So just to say, please bear with us over the next few hours – We will honour all your conversion requests as quickly as we can, but it may take a little longer than usual – sorry.
Oh, and just to clear up a few of the comments from Digg:
- As stated in our privacy policy, we absolutely DO NOT sell, spam or market your email addresses to anyone.
- The files you upload and convert are yours alone. Again, we DO NOT sell them, forward them, archive them or otherwise use them. The only time Zamzar goes near them is to honour any support enquiries you have.
- We are still in Beta, and we’re adding more features to the site all the time. If there’s stuff you’d like to see then just let us know

Support for FLAC conversion introduced
We’ve been listening to your feedback … thanks to everyone who has been writing in with requests for new conversion types – we’re working on implementing them as fast as we can.
Today we’re pleased to announce support for conversions of the increasingly popular music format FLAC (free lossless audio codec). As of today Zamzar supports conversion from FLAC to the following formats:
- aac – Advanced Audio Coding File
- ac3 – AC3 Audio File
- au – AU Audio File
- mp3 – Compressed audio file
- m4a – Compressed video file
- ogg – Ogg Vorbis Compressed Audio File
- wav – Windows audio file
